Last Friday, hundreds of interested people flocked to the cultural centre LUX in Nijmegen to catch a glimpse of the nature of the universe, which was the subject of the Researchers’ Night. The Cosmic Experience team was proud to kick-off the evening with a presentation that linked the Cosmic Experience dance event with the science of the Researchers’ Night.
Afterwards, several professors, each with his own field of expertise, shed light on mysterious processes in our universe. The audience learned about black holes and the mystery of dark matter and dark energy. In another lecture hall, the human aspect of doing scientific research was considered. Through Live video connections with Dutch scientists working at massive experiments in Geneva and Argentina, it was shown that doing scientific research these days truly is Big Science. The night was concluded with an interactive cosmic quiz. The winner went home with a dazzling Cosmic Experience T-shirt.
After having witnessed the great interest people have in learning about the scientific puzzles that come with studying the universe, the Cosmic Experience team is all the more confident that the upcoming event will be worthwhile and their effort are well appreciated!
